For learners with no or little knowledge of the language
Here’s what we’ll cover in your early lessons, always at your own pace and in a fun, supportive way:
The Greek Alphabet: We’ll start with the basics, learning the Greek alphabet, practising how to write each letter, and connecting letters to their sounds. You’ll soon recognise and pronounce them with ease.
Essential Everyday Vocabulary: We’ll focus on useful words for daily life. I often use flashcards or simple language apps to help you build your vocabulary in a fun and easy way.
Greetings & Introductions: Learn how to greet people in Greek and introduce yourself. You’ll practise common greetings like "hello", "goodbye", and how to say your name and where you’re from.
School Life: We’ll explore words related to school and education; things like classroom items, subjects, and simple phrases to talk about school life.
Animals: Learn the names of common animals in Greek and practise describing them and their characteristics.
Colours: Discover how to name and describe colours in Greek. Perfect for describing everyday objects around you!
Clothes: We’ll cover clothing items and learn how to describe what you or others are wearing.
Days of the Week: Learn the days of the week and how to talk about specific days and dates in simple conversations.
Seasons & Weather: You’ll pick up words and phrases related to the seasons and weather, and practise discussing what the weather is like.
Likes & Dislikes: Learn how to express your preferences in Greek, and ask others about their likes and dislikes too.
Numbers: Master Greek numbers! We’ll practise counting, doing simple sums, and talking about quantities.
Food & Cooking: Explore food-related words and basic cooking terms, with plenty of practice describing your favourite dishes or talking about cooking.
Young Learners A2
For learners who have completed Level 1 and can use simple expressions.
At this stage, we’ll start expanding your skills and building on what you already know.
Grammar & Vocabulary: We’ll explore the basics of Greek grammar covering nouns, pronouns, adjectives, verbs, and simple sentence structure. You’ll continue building your vocabulary with words and phrases linked to everyday topics and your personal interests.
Listening & Speaking: We’ll listen to Greek songs, watch short videos, and practise picking out familiar words and phrases. You’ll also get to practise speaking through easy, everyday conversations.
Reading & Writing: We’ll begin reading simple texts like short stories or children’s books in Greek to boost your reading confidence. You’ll also practise writing basic sentences and short paragraphs.
Topic-Based Learning: We’ll focus on specific subjects such as describing people, food, hobbies, and more. Together, we’ll create handy flashcards or topic lists to help you expand your vocabulary in a fun, practical way.
People & Descriptions: Learn how to describe people using common adjectives, and practise putting together short descriptions of characters or people around you; this helps improve both speaking and writing.
Months & Celebrations: We’ll cover the months of the year and explore Greek traditions, holidays, and celebrations, learning words and phrases connected to cultural events.
Practice, Practice, Practice: Consistency is key! We’ll talk about simple ways to include a bit of Greek in your daily routine, whether that’s reading, listening, or speaking, using materials that gradually get more challenging as you improve.
