Young Learners A1 

For learners with no or little knowledge of the language

  • The Greek Alphabet: You will start by learning and familiarising yourself with the Greek alphabet. Practice will include writing each letter and learning their corresponding sounds.
  • Basic & essential vocabulary: Words related to everyday life. We will use flashcards or language learning apps to build your vocabulary.
  • Greetings & Introductions: Common Greek greetings and how to introduce yourself. We will practice saying "hello," and "goodbye," and introducing your name and where you're from.
  • School Life: Vocabulary related to school and education, such as classroom items, subjects, and basic phrases for asking about someone's school life.
  • Animals: Names of animals in Greek. We will practice describing animals and their characteristics.
  • Colours: Colours in Greek. We will practice describing objects by their colour.
  • Clothes: Clothing items and how to describe what you or others are wearing.
  • Days of the Week: The days of the week in Greek. We will practice talking about specific days and dates.
  • Seasons and Weather: Words and phrases related to seasons and weather conditions. We will practice discussing the weather and seasons.
  • Likes and Dislikes: Express your preferences and asking others about their likes and dislikes.
  • Numbers: Master the numbers in Greek. We will practice counting, performing basic arithmetic, and expressing quantities.
  • Cooking and Food: Food-related vocabulary and basic cooking terms. We will practice describing your favourite dishes and cooking processes.

Young Learners A2

For learners who have completed Level 1, and know how to use simple expressions

  • Grammar and Vocabulary
  • Greek grammar fundamentals: We will focus on nouns, pronouns, adjectives, verbs, and basic sentence structure. We will build your vocabulary, starting with everyday words and phrases related to your chosen topics
  • Listening and Speaking: We will listen to Greek music, watch Greek-related videos, try to pick up words and phrases and practice speaking with simple conversations.
  • Reading and Writing: Read simple Greek texts, such as children's books or beginner-level stories.
  • Topic-Based Learning: Focus on specific topics like describing people, food, hobbies, etc. as you progress. We will create flashcards or a vocabulary list for each topic to expand your knowledge.
  • Practice, Practice, Practice: Consistency is key. We will talk about setting aside dedicated time each day for language practice in reading and listening with materials that gradually increase in difficulty.
  • Months: Months and related words. 
  • Celebrations: Various celebrations in Greece, including traditional festivals, holidays, and customs.
  • People & descriptions: How to describe people using adjectives (descriptive words) and practice on creating character descriptions. Students will develop their vocabulary and writing skills.
  • Practice, Practice, Practice: Consistency is key. We will talk about setting aside dedicated time each day for language practice in reading and listening with materials that gradually increase in difficulty.
